Red Cross breaks ground for new Pampanga-Angeles City Chapter Building
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has officially broken ground for its new Pampanga-Angeles City Chapter Building following a land donation from the Lazatin family.
The ceremony on Tuesday, August 4, marked the signing of a Deed of Donation for a 300-square-meter lot located at the Eastgate Commercial Center.
The generous gift provides a permanent headquarters for the chapter, which recently vacated its provincial capitol site after 78 years of operation.
While local government officials provided temporary accommodations, the PRC required a lasting foundation to maintain uninterrupted operations.
“A Red Cross chapter needs a permanent home to serve communities without interruption,” said PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon. “We deeply thank the Lazatin family for giving us a space to save lives and alleviate suffering for generations.”
PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang emphasized the strategic benefit of the new venue, noting that its proximity to the expressways will significantly improve deployment speeds during roadside emergencies and disasters, ultimately saving more lives.
Representing the donors, Chapter Board Treasurer Jaime T. Lazatin reaffirmed his family’s long-term dedication to the organization.
The land grant continues a philanthropic legacy established by his father, the late Jesus S. Lazatin, who played a key role in rebuilding the local chapter following the destructive Mt. Pinatubo lahar flows in 1995.
Once completed, the modern facility will enhance the PRC’s overall reach throughout the province, strengthening its blood bank services, disaster management capabilities, community health initiatives, and volunteer development programs.
