New chemotherapy center opens in Rizal

TAYTAY, Rizal — In a major breakthrough for local healthcare, the Taytay Chemotherapy Center has officially opened its doors on L. Wood St., Brgy. Dolores marking a major milestone in expanding accessible, affordable, and patient‑centered cancer care for residents of Taytay and the rest of the province.

The new facility brings accessible, patient-centered oncology services directly to the residents of Rizal, eliminating the need for exhausting and costly trips to Metro Manila.

Cancer remains one of the most critical public health crises in the Philippines despite the existence of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA) to support patients.

Many still face delayed diagnoses and astronomical out-of-pocket expenses.

A single chemotherapy cycle can run as high as ₱120,000, with total treatments sometimes exceeding ₱5 million.

Consequently, countless families are forced into devastating debt, asset liquidation, or worse, abandoning treatment altogether.

Recognizing this urgent gap, the We Hope Medical Group partnered with local government units (LGUs), the national government, and communities to establish the sustainable facility.

“Our mission is simple: no cancer patient in Taytay, Rizal should ever be forced to choose between treatment and survival,” said Dr. John Paul Aclan, Chairman and CEO of We Hope Medical Group. “This center is more than a facility—it is a promise to every Filipino family that compassionate, dignified, free cancer care is possible.”

The Taytay launch represents a stepping stone for the group, which targets a broader nationwide expansion of 100 free chemotherapy centers.

The grand opening was attended by local leaders, including Councilor Cai Cortez and Councilor Joan Calderon, who expressed deep gratitude for the medical group’s investment in the municipality’s health infrastructure.

Staffed by licensed oncology physicians, the modern facility features comfortable, patient-centered treatment bays and provides holistic support programs, including wellness guidance and counseling.

Services—ranging from consultations to free chemotherapy sessions—are fully integrated with PhilHealth, the Cancer Assistance Fund, and various LGU programs.

Local patients can readily avail of these life-saving services. To apply, individuals simply need to visit the center and present a valid ID alongside their PhilHealth Member Data Record (MDR).
