PHILIPPINE merchandise exports reached an all-time high of $8.8 billion in June 2026, marking the highest monthly export value recorded since the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) began its tracking series in 1991.
According to preliminary data released by the PSA, June export revenues surged 24.1% compared to $7.1 billion recorded during the same month last year.
This figure represents the fastest monthly growth rate for 2026 and the highest annual expansion in the past 12 months, highlighting the strengthening global presence of Philippine products.
Tech Boom Drives Surge
The remarkable performance was primarily anchored by robust demand in the electronics sector, which continued to serve as the country’s main trade engine. Electronic products accounted for $5.25 billion, or nearly 60% of total export receipts in June.
Growth within this sector was largely propelled by a global surge in demand for artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and rapid investments in hyperscale data centers. Consequently, sales of electronic components and semiconductors rose sharply by 33.4%.
Overall, manufactured goods comprised 82.2% of total June exports, surging 30.2% year-on-year—nearly quadrupling the growth pace seen in the previous month.
Mixed Results for Agriculture
In agricultural exports, coconut oil maintained its dominant position, generating $232.9 million—a 12% increase from June 2025 levels.
Conversely, banana exports faced headwinds, declining by 20.8% due to pest infestations and heightened foreign market competition.
To address these challenges, Philippine trade authorities are prioritizing upcoming negotiations with Japan to review preferential tariff treatments under the Philippines-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (PJEPA).
Broad Market Expansion
For the first half of 2026, total merchandise exports reached $46.72 billion, up 13.1% from $41.31 billion in the same period of 2025, securing another first-half record for the country.
| Export Destination | June 2026 Value | Share of Total Exports |
| United States | $1.76 Billion | 20.1% |
| Hong Kong | $1.34 Billion | 15.3% |
| China | $1.00 Billion | 11.4% |
| Japan | $990.16 Million | 11.3% |
| Singapore | $508.18 Million | 5.8% |
Reflecting broad-based global market strength, nine out of the Philippines’ top 10 trade destinations registered double-digit growth in June, with Japan being the sole destination posting single-digit gains.
Strategic Support and Domestic Growth
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque lauded the achievement, attributing the record figure to the resilience and dedication of local exporters amid global trade shifts.
Secretary Roque emphasized that while DTI will continue expanding international access by leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), trade shows, and business matching initiatives, domestic strength remains equally vital.
She encouraged exporters to solidify their presence within the local market to establish a stable foundation for sustained growth and employment generation.
