Hamon kay VP Sara: Patunayang ‘weakest link’ si Madriaga sa pagharap sa Kongreso

Tahasang hinamon ngayong Lunes ni House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability Chair Joel Chua ng Manila si Vice President Sara Z. Duterte na personal na dumalo sa impeachment hearing para komprontahin ang kanyang umano ay bagman na si Ramil L. Madriaga, bunsod ng pahayag ng kanyang legal supporters na ito ay “weakest link.”

Ang alegasyon laban kay Madriaga, ayon kay Chua, ay dapat na masubukan sa tamang forum at ito ay ang proseso ng Kongreso sa halip na ihayag sa media o sa pamamagitan ng petisyon para harangin ang proseso.

“Kung sinasabi nilang sinungaling at ‘weakest link’ si Madriaga, mas lalo nilang dapat harapin ang pagdinig para mapatunayan iyon. Hindi po puwedeng sa labas lang magsalita, pero sa loob ng proseso ay umiiwas,” pahayag ni Chua, isang abogado at miyembro na House Committee on Justice.

Ito ang patutsada ni Chua sa pahayag ni dating presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo na hindi umano mapagkakatiwalaan si Madriaga.

Dagdag ni Chua ang ganitong mga pahayag ay lalong nagpapalakas na dapat humarap si Duterte sa pagdinig ng Kongreso.

“If Atty. Panelo believes Mr. Madriaga is the ‘weakest link,’ then all the more reason for Vice President Sara Duterte to attend the hearing and test that claim under oath. Hindi po sa press briefing dinadaan ang credibility, tama na ang puro propaganda—sa ebidensya at sa proseso po natin daanin iyan,” diin ni Chua.

Binigyang pansin din ng mambabatas na ang impeachment proceedings ay kinapapalooban ng constitutional rules at due process kung saan ang bawat panig ay binibigyan ng pagkakataon na ipakita o iprisinta ang ebidensiya at hamunin ang kredibilidad ng saksi sa kaso.

“The proper venue to challenge any witness—including Mr. Madriaga—is the House hearing. Hindi po sapat ang sabihing ‘mahina ang witness’ kung hindi naman hinaharap at sinusubok sa tamang forum. Due process works both ways—may pagkakataon si VP Sara na dumepensa sa committee,” ani Chua.

“Magkaiba po ang sinasabi at ginagawa. On one hand, sinasabing ‘mahina ang witness.’ On the other hand, humihingi ng TRO at hindi naman humaharap sa pagdinig kung saan puwedeng patunayan iyon. Kung talagang mahina ang ebidensya, bakit hindi harapin?” dagdag pa ng mambabatas. (KARLO GARCIA)
