Cainta humirit ng pondo sa DPWH para sa drainage project

UPANG pahupain ang matagal nang problema sa mga pagbaha sa Cainta, humirit ng pondo si Mayor Kit Nieto sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) para matustusan ang kanilang drainage project.

Layon ng nasabing proyekto na mabawasan pa ang dami ng tubig na dumadaan sa loob ng mga villages at nang sa gayon ay tuloy-tuloy itong makalabas sa Cainta River.

“I am actually requesting the DPWH to fund nung malaking interceptor drainage project natin along Imelda Avenue that would create another outfall para ma-ease up ‘yung volume ng tubig na kailangan dumaan sa loob ng villages para lang makalabas sa Cainta River” pahayag ni Nieto sa panayam ng PaMaMariSan-Rizal Press Corps.

Maliban sa nasabing proyekto balak ding magtayo ng lokal na pamahalaan ng pumping station sa Buli Creek upang mas mapabilis pa ang pagdaloy ng tubig kapag malakas ang ulan at hindi na magdulot pa ng karagdagang pagbaha.

Inihayag din ng alkalde na nakalatag na ang isang ‘flood summit’ sa Rizal bukas, araw ng Martes, na dadaluhan ng mga mambabatas at lokal na opisyal ng lalawigan.

Ayon sa punong bayan, magkakaroon ng seryosong talakayan upang tukuyin ang iba pang mga sanhi ng pagbaha at makahanap ng kongkretong solusyon na ipapatupad hindi lamang sa apektadong mga bayan kundi sa buong lalawigan na rin.

“Alam naman namin ang [ilang sanhi at] solusyon, pinag-aralan [na] namin ito. Ang kailangan lang ay [karagdagang] suporta mula sa national government para maisakatuparan [ito],” giit pa ni Nieto.
