THE Office of the Vice President (OVP) opened its “Extra+Ordinary: The Vice Presidents of the Philippines” pop-up exhibit on August 17, 2026, at a local mall in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
The initiative aims to deepen public awareness regarding the roles, advocacies, and historical contributions of the country’s former second-highest officials.
The opening ceremony was led by OVP-Pangasinan Satellite Office Lead Maximo Alexis M. Tan, alongside representatives from the Calasiao local government unit, partner organizations, and local guests.
Running from August 17 to 23, 2026, the temporary showcase features detailed informational panels highlighting how former vice presidents shaped the nation’s political and historical landscape.
Beyond the physical exhibition, the OVP has invited the public to access supplementary educational materials and multimedia content available on its official YouTube channel.
The pop-up display in Pangasinan forms part of a broader, ongoing effort by the OVP to establish a permanent Museum of the Vice Presidents.
Since last year, OVP representatives have been conducting benchmarking visits to prominent cultural and historical institutions across the country to gather best practices in museum administration, exhibit design, and heritage conservation.
Among the institutions visited for research and planning are Casa Mariquit and the Iloilo Museum of Philippine Economic History in Iloilo City; Museo El Deposito in San Juan City; the Salvador H. Laurel Museum and Library in Laguna; Museo ng Pag-asa in Quezon City; and the National Library of the Philippines Museum in Metro Manila.
Through these institutional visits, the OVP intends to apply practical insights toward the successful management and curation of the proposed museum.
The planned institution is envisioned as a permanent repository to safeguard the nation’s collective historical memory, honor the legacy of public service, and serve as an educational resource for future generations.
