THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against the operator of a passenger jeepney caught on video counterflowing along a busy stretch of Quirino Highway in Quezon City.
The hearing for the case is scheduled for September 3.
According to Acting LTFRB Chairman Atty. Greg G. Pua, Jr., the operator must explain in writing why their Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended or revoked.
The agency noted key safety violations, including failure to provide safe and comfortable transportation to commuters and employing a reckless driver.
The regulatory action was launched after the LTFRB’s social media team flagged the viral video, which showed the vehicle driving against the flow of traffic and putting other road users at risk.
“Let this investigation serve as a strong message to the PUV drivers that the LTFRB will not tolerate this kind of behavior on the road. The public can be assured of our quick action on this matter,” Pua stated.
The agency also commended netizens for documenting and reporting erring drivers, emphasizing the role of public vigilance in maintaining road courtesy.
Commuters are encouraged to continue reporting traffic violations via the LTFRB hotline 1342 or through its official social media channels.
