2 Taguig students in police custody over online school threat posts

LAW enforcement authorities have taken two students into custody following an investigation into online bomb and violence threats directed at two schools in Taguig City.

According to initial reports from the Taguig City Police, investigators tracked down the social media account responsible for circulating the threats.

The first student identified by police claimed that a classmate used the account to draft and publish the alarming messages.

Authorities also addressed a viral video making rounds online that depicted a firearm allegedly tied to the plot.

Police clarified that neither student filmed the footage, confirming it was simply downloaded from Facebook and re-uploaded.

In response to the incident, the Taguig City Government immediately coordinated with local police, school administrators, the Department of Education (DepEd), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to secure school premises.

Because the suspects involved are minors, officials assured the public that the ongoing investigation will strictly follow legal procedures while establishing full accountability.

With classes scheduled to resume following weather disruptions caused by the Habagat monsoon, the city government announced heightened security protocols across all campus entry points.

Standard measures will include mandatory bag inspections and thorough screening of all students, staff, and visitors. School authorities urged parents and guardians to arrive early to accommodate the additional safety checks.

Local officials strictly advised the public against sharing, reposting, or commenting on unverified threat messages, which can trigger unnecessary panic.

Instead, citizens are encouraged to take screenshots, note account details, and report suspicious online or offline behavior directly to school authorities or emergency services.

The city government reiterated that public safety remains a top priority and urged community members to rely solely on official announcements from verified government channels.
