We Hope Medical Group to open free chemotherapy center in Valenzuela City

VALENZUELA City residents fighting cancer will soon gain access to free, life-saving care as We Hope Medical Group prepares to open its first Free Chemotherapy Center north of Metro Manila.

Ahead of the official launch, Mayor Wes Gatchalian visited the facility to inspect final preparations and confer with clinic management and medical staff.

Located within Valenzuela’s expanding health services hub, the We Hope Valenzuela Chemotherapy Center is designed to provide free chemotherapy sessions, doctor consultations, and patient support services.

The private initiative aligns with local government efforts to lighten the crushing financial burden faced by families undergoing long-term medical care.

“Cancer treatment should never be out of reach for any Valenzuelano. This center is a promise that the city will stand with every patient and every family fighting this battle,” Mayor Gatchalian said during the inspection.

Despite the passage of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA), high out-of-pocket expenses remain a major barrier to care.

A single chemotherapy cycle can cost up to ₱120,000, while overall treatment often reaches ₱5 million or more—frequently forcing families into severe debt or causing patients to abandon care altogether.

The new facility aims to bridge this gap through strategic partnerships with local government units and national health authorities.

Once fully operational following final regulatory compliance checks and staff training, the center will offer:

  • Free Chemotherapy Sessions: Comprehensive infusion services for eligible local residents.
  • Specialized Care: On-site consultations led by qualified oncologists and trained oncology nurses.
  • Holistic Support: Patient navigation, psychological counseling services, and integrated laboratory and diagnostic testing.

Dr. John Paul Aclan emphasized that the group’s overarching mission is to ensure no Filipino is forced to choose between financial survival and necessary medical treatment.

Driven by its leadership’s commitment to public health innovation, We Hope Medical Group is pursuing an ambitious expansion target of 100 operational centers by the end of the year, establishing a new national standard for compassionate, community-centered cancer care.
