THE local government of San Juan recently rolled out the red carpet for its educators, celebrating World Teachers’ Day at the Makabagong San Juan Theater inside the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center.

Mayor Francis Zamora, joined by his son and Special Assistant to the Mayor Rocco Zamora, Vice Mayor Angelo Agcaoili, and members of the City Council—including Councilors Macky Mathay, Boyet Tolentino, Franco Tañada-Yam, Kit Peralta, Ervic Vijandre, Herbert Chua, Ryan Llanos Dee, Dennis Pardinez, and Don Allado—gathered to honor the hardworking and dedicated teachers shaping the youth’s future.

During the event, teachers received ₱3,000 in financial assistance directly from the City Government. This monetary grant forms part of the regular financial support teachers receive twice a year, supplementing their standard salaries and allowances.

In addition to financial aid, educators were gifted comprehensive health and wellness packages to support their well-being. The items distributed included:

  • Medical essentials: Paracetamol, paracetamol-ibuprofen capsules, cold and defense nasal sprays, anti-inflammatory throat sprays, loperamide, and multi-symptom cold relief tablets.
  • Hygiene and sanitization supplies: Isopropyl and ethyl alcohol sprays, one-gallon jugs of alcohol, alcohol-free antibacterial wipes, and liquid hand soap.

Speaking before the educators, Mayor Zamora emphasized that a strong education paves the way for a bright future, noting that teachers do far more than impart academic knowledge—they instill values, character, and lifelong aspirations in the next generation.

He reaffirmed the city government’s ongoing commitment to backing the education sector through welfare and learning programs.

“The World Teachers’ Day celebration underscored the city government of San Juan’s continued recognition of educators as essential partners in strengthening the city’s education system and preparing San Juaneño learners for a better future,” the local government stated.

City officials also extended their gratitude to generous private partners who offered free services and various forms of support to make the celebration a success.
