SAN JUAN City Mayor Francis Zamora, accompanied by Special Assistant to the Mayor Rocco Zamora, led the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) “Tara, Basa!” payout at the San Juan City Hall Atrium, extending financial assistance to 298 parents and guardians.
Depending on their actual program attendance, beneficiaries received up to ₱4,700.
The DSWD’s “Tara, Basa!” program is designed to uplift low-income families by engaging college students as tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) to aid struggling young readers, while simultaneously equipping parents and guardians to act as effective primary educators at home.
Beyond the DSWD payouts, the local government distributed city-funded financial assistance to multiple vulnerable sectors.

A total of 200 children of solo parents received ₱2,000 each, while 50 Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL), Children at Risk (CAR), and Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP) were each given ₱3,000.
Furthermore, 20 Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) victim-survivors and parents of children with special protection needs were each awarded a ₱10,000 livelihood grant to help them achieve financial stability.
The comprehensive payout underscores San Juan City’s continued dedication to inclusive social welfare, educational support, and community empowerment for its most vulnerable residents.
