E-bikes dapat rehistrado; drivers, dapat may lisensya — LTO

Sunod-sunod  na aksidente sa kalye!

Ito ang nakikita ng (LTO) dahil sa naglipana — lalo na sa mga pangunahing lansangan — ang electronic bikes (e-bike) na hindi rehistrado na minamaneho ng drayber na walang driver’s license.

Ayon sa kay Asst. Sec. at LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II, saklaw ng Land Transportation Code ang electronic vehicles. Hindi raw pwedeng ikatwiran ng mga nakabili ng e-bike na hindi nila alam na kailangang itong mairehistro dahil ayon daw sa e-bike dealer, hindi na raw kailangang ang rehistro at driver’s license.

Napansin ni Mendoza na lalong dumarami ngayon ang nagmamay-ari ng e-bikes lalo na sa Metro Manila, lalo na’t mura lang ang buwanang hulog nito at maraming modelong pagpipilian.

Ayon pa sa sales promo ng ilang dealer nito, hindi na kailangang i-rehistro sa LTO ang e-bike.

Nitong nakaraang linggo, kinumpiska ng LTO ang ilang e-bike na dumaraan sa EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, at Lungsod ng Pasay.

Bago ito matubos ng mga may-ari, kailangang daw i-rehistro ang bawa’t e-bike, matapos magbayad ng ₱10,000.

Samantala, ang nagmamaneho ng e-bike na walang driver’s license ay hindi papayagang mag- apply ng driver’s student permit sa loob ng isang taon.

Balak ipatawag ng LTO ang lahat ng dealers na nagbebenta ng e-bikes para malaman kung ipinaalam nila sa potential buyers na kailangang ang rehistro at lisensya.

Sinabi naman ni Isay Molato ng Sociedad Filipino Intellgente na praktikal lamang ang e-bikes sa unang dalawang taon nang paggamit nito, pero pagtuntong ng ikatlong taon, sasakit na ang ulo ng mga nakabili dahil umaabot mula sa ₱12,000 hanggang sa mahigit ₱24,000 ang halaga ng 48 volts na baterya nito at sobrang mahal daw ng maintenance.
