Taxi drivers na pasaway, hinuli ng LTO

Dahil sa Christmas rush, tila rush din ang operasyon ng mga operatiba ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa panghuhuli ng mga taxi driver na namimili ng pasahero o tumatangging magsakay.

Ayon sa LTO, nitong Miyerkules ng gabi, umabot na kaagad sa 10 taxi drivers ang nahuli ng ahensya sa loob lamang ng halos isang oras sa North Edsa.

Magiging mas mahigpit ang paghuli at pagparusa sa mapang-abusong taxi drivers ngayong holiday rush dahil sa patuloy na tumataas ng demand sa taxi at iba pang public transportation.

Pagmumultahin ang mga nangongontrata sa kanilang first offense, ngunit ii-impound ang motorsiklo ng mga napatunayang naghabal-habal.

Ayon kay LTO Chief Asec. Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, pwedeng matanggalan ng lisensya ang isang taxi driver kapag nakita sa kanilang records na marami na itong violations.

Ayon naman sa Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) pwedeng magsumbong sa kanilang 24/7 hotline na 1342 at sa| Public Assistance & Complaints Desk 8925-7366 para ireport ang mga abusadong driver lalo na ang taxi driver na namimili ng pasahero o nangongontrata.

Magmula nang pumasok ang Christmas season, mahigit sa 600 na ang natanggap na sumbong ng LTFRB, at 32 dito ay reklamo laban sa overcharging.
