‘Malicious attack’ sa ots chief ang resign call ni Romualdez?

NAGLABAS nang sama ng loob si Department of Transportation (DoTR) USec. Ma O Aplasca
sa panawagan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na mag-resign na siya.


Sa kanyang sulat na binasa ni DoTR ASec Jose Briones sa Budget hearing ng ahensya nitong
Lunes, sinabi ni Aplasca:


“I now stand against the public humiliation for the sake of my family, who in my more than 40
years serving the country is hurting now more than ever, such insensitive, malicious, and
personal attacks,” saad ni Aplasca sa sulat.


Nauna na rito, pinagbantaan ni Romualdez na haharangin nito ang pondo ng Office of
Transportation Security (OTS) kapag hindi nag-resign si Aplasia dahil sa kahihiyan na inaabot
ng bansa dahil sa serye ng pagnanakaw sa NAIA. Ang huling insidente diumano ay ang
paglunok ng US$300 ng isang OTS screening officer na ninakaw sa isang Chinese tourist.


Bukod sa lunok-dollars, nagreklamo rin ang isang Thai national noong Pebrero dahil sa
pagkawala ng kanyang cash, matapos inspeksyunin ng isang OTS screener ang kanyang
handcarry bag.


Noong Marso, nagreklamo ang isang Chinese tourist na nawalan ng relo matapos itong ipatong
sa tray papasok ng X-ray machine. Nakita si screener Valeriano Diaz Ricaplaza Jr., na kumuha
sa relo, matapos ma-review ang CCTV.

Tinanggal na ang dalawang nabanggit na OTS personnel matapos ang imbestigasyon.
Magmula nang lumabas ang isyu ng resignation, dumami ang netizens, vloggers, at karaniwang
Pilipino na pinagre-resign si Aplasca.


Kahapon, naghain na nang courtesy resignation si Aplasia. Ipinaliwanag nito na ang resignation
ay dahil sa banta ni Romualdez.


Nilinaw ni Aplasca na wala siyang ginawang anumang masama, sa halip, ipinagpapatuloy pa
niya ang paglaban sa korapsyon, sa termino ng kanyang paglilingkod bilang OTS chief.


“It is just unfortunate that as we weed out the scalawags in our ranks, it will always draw media
attention and tarnish the reputation of our country,” saad ng dating OTS chief.


Ayon kay Romualdez, napahiya ang sambayanang Pilipino magmula nang nag-viral sa social
media ang paglunok ng $300 ng airport screener, at ito ay command responsibility ni Aplasca.


Sinabi pa ng ilang kongresista na nahihirapan ang bansa na makakuha ng foreign investors
dahil sa mga tiwaling kawani ng OTS.
