Kotongerong MMDA enforcer, tiklo sa entrapment ops

HINDI na nagawang pumiglas pa ng isang traffic enforcer ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) matapos itong arestuhin sa isang joint entrapment operations ng Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) at MMDA Intelligence and Investigation Office (IIO) sa Port Area, Manila, Biyernes, Marso 31.

Kinilala ang suspek na si Rey Gaza, 53, isang MMDA Traffic Aide na kasalukuyang nakatalaga sa MMDA Northern Traffic Enforcement Division–Traffic Reaction Unit.

Ikinasa ang nasabing operasyon batay sa reklamo ng isang trucking company na nag-o-perate sa North Harbor sa Maynila at Valenzuela City na pagmamay-ari ni Salvador Jecino.

Batay sa report ng pulisya, mula pa aniya taong 2019 nang magsimulang mangolekta kay Jecino si Gaza at mga kasamahan nito ng ₱10,000 buwanang “payola.”

Ayon kay Jecino, napilitan aniya siyang magbigay ng buwanang halaga upang maging maayos ang operasyon ng kaniyang negosyo at maiwasan ang anumang abala.

Sinabi naman ni MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes na hindi aniya kukunsintihin ng MMDA nanghihingi ng “payola” at pangongotong o iba pang kahalintulad na maling mga gawain.

“Seryoso tayo sa ginagawa nating paglilinis sa aming hanay. Ang totoo, tuloy-tuloy at pinaiigting pa ng MMDA ang ginagawang paglilinis upang alisin at tanggalin ang mga tiwaling empleyado,” giit pa ni Artes.

Idinagdag naman ni MMDA General Manager Usec. Procopio Lipana, na matapos aniya na makatanggap sila ng ulat mula sa IIO na may nangongotong na traffic aide, kaagad nilang ikinasa ang nasabing entrapment operation.

“Nang matanggap namin ang ulat na may nangongotong, kaagad namin itong pina-imbestigahan at totoo nga ang nasabing impormasyon. Matapos makapag-file ng pormal na reklamo ang biktima, nakipag-ugnayan agad tayo sa NCRPO at isinagawa ang nasabing operasyon,” ang pahayg ni Lipana.

Na-rekober mula kay Gaza ang ₱5,000 marked money at siya ay kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng RSOG at nahaharap sa kasong robbery extorsion at paglabag sa Republic Act 3019 o ang Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
