LABIS na nababahala si Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas sa posibilidad na darami
ang drop-outs sa senior high school.


Ito ay matapos magpalabas ang Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) kamakailan
ng isang memorandum na nagpapatigil sa State Colleges and Universities, pati na Local
Universities and Colleges na tumanggap ng senior high school students.

Dahil dito, ilang mambabatas ang bumatikos sa aksyon ng CHEd dahil sa kawalan
diumano ng koordinasyon sa pagitan nito at nga Department of Education (DepEd), at
kawalan ng konsultasyon sa apektadong estudyante at stakeholders.


“Ang mangyayari sa kanila, you go to the private schools, eh hindi na minsan kaya na
mag-aral dahil in fact ang ina-address nitong senior high school [sa SUCs] ay usapin ng
dropout,” ani Brosas.

“Pero nakita naman natin na systemic failure talaga ang nangyari. Marami pa rin ang
dropout hanggang ngayon so hindi talaga siya ‘yung solusyon… Itong CHEd memo sa
tingin namin mas lalong maglalagay sa mga estudyante natin, sa magulang, sa mga
teachers natin sa lalong alanganin na kalagayan.”

Kinuwestiyon din ni Rep. France Castro ng ACT Teachers party-list ang pagiging tamad
at iresponsable ng CHEd dahil sa kawalan ng konsultasyon sa lahat ng stakeholders.


“Sana nagkaroon ng konsultasyon sa mga students, parents and teachers kasi
apektado sila dito. Sa mga estudyante at magulang kasi mawawalan sila ng ayuda at
makikipagsiksikan sa mga public high school. Sa mga teachers din na maaring in limbo
ang kanilang load at trabaho dahil dito,” ani Castro.
