Certification initiative ng TESDA umani ng papuri sa mga OFW

UMANI ng papuri mula sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) sa Saudi Arabia at Hong Kong ang ginawang paglalapit ng certification services ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) kahit sila ay nasa ibang bansa.

Ayon sa mga OFW, nakatipid sila ng panahon at pera dahil bago sila bumalik sa Pilipinas ay tapos na silang isailalim sa competency assessment at makakuha ng National Certificates and Certificates of Competency sa ilalim ng Overseas Assessment Program (OAP) ng TESDA.

Sa Riyadh, nakipagtulungan ang Philippine Embassy at Migrant Workers Office (MWO) para isagawa ang assessment para sa Caregiving NC II, Health Care Services NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, at Barista NC II.

Pinasinayaan din ang kauna-unahang OAP sa Al Khobar sa pakikipagtulungan ng Department of Migrant Workers, Procare Hospital, at Saudi-Canadian Training & Simulation Center, at nagsagawa ng assessments para sa Caregiving NC II at Health Care Services NC II.

Sa Jeddah naman, inilaan ng TESDA at DMW ang assessment para sa Caregiving NC II, Caregiving (Elderly) NC II, Health Care Services NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II at NC III, PV Systems Installation NC II, at Early Childhood Care Development NC III.

Kung pagsasamahin, nakapag-assess ng 1,056 OFW sa Saudi Arabia kung saan 946 ang nakakuha ng National Certificates na may 90 porsyentong certification rate, ayon pa sa ahensya.

Sa Hong Kong, 57 OFWS ang sumailalim sa assessment para sa Massage Therapy NC II, kung saan 49 ang nakakuha ng National Certificates, na nagresulta sa 86 certification rate.

Nagpahayag ng pasasalamat si Nuraima Sabdani, isang infection control nurse na nakabase sa Riyadh dahil ayon sa kaniya, hindi na kailangang hintayin pa na makauwi sa Pilipinas bago isalang sa assessment.

“Napaka-grateful po namin na may ganitong initiative ang government. That way, hindi na kailangang umuwi ng mga OFW natin sa ‘Pinas just to have an assessment. This gives them more flexibility,” sabi ni Sabdani.

Bago nito, lumagda sa isang kasunduan sina TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan para sa kooperasyon kaugnay sa skills development, assessment, certification, scholarship support, at reintegration services para sa mga OFWs at ng kanilang pamilya.

“Through initiatives like the Overseas Assessment Program, we are ensuring that Filipino workers—wherever they are in the world—have access to opportunities for upskilling, certification, and dignity in work,” ang pahayag ni Benitez.
