GOOD-BYE na sa mahabang pila
Ito ang mensaheng nais ipabatid ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa mga nais kumuha o
mag-renew ng passport.


Kamakailan, inianusyo ng DFA ang pagpapaikli nang pagpo-proseso ng passport, regular man o
express application.


Ayon kay Asec. Henry Bensurto Jr., ng Office of Consular Affairs, simula sa araw na ito, Hulyo 24,
mapabibilis na ang pagpo-proseso ng passport at iikli na lang ang panahon nang paghihintay bago
mai-release ito.


Ayon pa kay Bensurto, dati, ang regular passport application ay nare-release sa loob ng 12-14
araw, pero ngayon, 10 araw na lamang. Ang express naman ay magiging limang araw na lang, na
dating pitong araw.

Idiniin ni Bensurto na ang mga nabanggit ay para lamang sa taga-Metro Manila. Samantalang
ang consular offices sa iba’t ibang parte ng bansa ay mas mabilis din ang proseso pero hindi
kasing bilis ng sa Metro Manila, dahil sa shipping.


Kung dati-rati, mahigit daw anim na buwan ang pagkuha ng appointment sa consular office,
ngayon, itoy mula 5-12 araw na lamang, pagtatapos ni Bensurto.
