NAGHIHINGALO!
Ganito inilarawan ni House Deputy Speaker at Batangas Rep. Ralph Recto ang sektor
ng agrikultura.


Sa isang TV interview kamakailan, sinabi ni Recto na kailangan daw amyendahan ang
lahat ng batas na sumasaklaw sa sektor ng agrikultura. Ito ay para mapahusay ang
produksyon ng pagkain sa bansa na makasasapat sa pangangailangan ng bawat
Pilipino.


Dapat din daw baguhin ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang kanyang strategy para
mapalakas ang naghihingalong sektor.


“I think we should think of agriculture differently already. The farmers, their children don’t
want to be farmers anymore. You know how hard it is to plant rice para kang nagma-
marathon araw-araw (na)ng nakayuko,” sabi ni Recto.


“You cannot rely on government alone. You need to do more corporate farming.”
Magagawa raw ito kung makapapasok ang malaking pondo mula sa pribadong sektor at
magbubukas ng daan para sa malawakang pagsasagawa ng mechanized farming, ayon
pa sa kongresista.

Idiniin pa ni Recto na 30 percent ng manggagawang Pilipino ay nasa sektor ng
agrikultura pero 8 percent lamang ang kontribusyon nito sa gross domestic product o
GDP.


Isa umano sa mga amyenda na kailangan ay hayaan na magkaroon ng mas malawak
na lupa ang mga magsasaka.


“I think we have to rethink our agriculture strategy, in fairness to the President, I think
second quarter or first half (of the year) agriculture did grow but still far below the growth
rate of the population,” aniya pa.
