A 21-year-old repeat offender with a long police record was arrested early Saturday morning during a joint anti-criminality drive led by local authorities in Barangay Pinagbuhatan.
Members of the Pinagbuhatan Police Sub-Station, operating under the Pasig City Police Station headed by PCol. Hendrix B. Mangaldan, apprehended the suspect identified as alias “Chan Chan” at around 2:30 AM along Caliwag Street on August 22, 2026.
Police caught the suspect, a logistics sorter residing in Barangay Napindan, Taguig City, in the act of playing the illegal gambling game Cara y Cruz.
While his companions managed to flee the scene, officers immediately detained “Chan Chan.”
A procedural search yielded $150 in bet money and a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing roughly 0.50 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine), estimated to have a street value of ₱3,400.
Records reveal that the suspect is a serial offender who was recently released from detention for a previous drug charge. His prior law enforcement encounters include a November 2019 carnapping incident in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, as well as multiple drug-related arrests under Republic Act 9165 in 2021, 2024, and 2025.
Mangaldan praised the joint efforts of Police Sub-Station 5 and the Barangay Pinagbuhatan Security Force, highlighting their close coordination in keeping neighborhoods safe.
The Pasig City Police Station reiterated its commitment to intensifying local anti-criminality operations and strengthening community partnerships.
