Manila FAME 2026 set to capture new era of global design

AS artificial intelligence and rapid automation reshape global production, a growing counter-movement is driving demand for handcrafted, authentic design.

Consumers worldwide are increasingly seeking pieces that showcase artisanal heritage, sustainable craftsmanship, and emotional restoration over mass-produced uniformity.

Meeting this international demand, the 74th edition of Manila FAME—the country’s flagship export trade show for home, fashion, and lifestyle—is set to take place from October 15–17, 2026, at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.

Organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the trade show will gather roughly 400 Philippine brands and manufacturers.

The event follows strong international enthusiasm for Philippine craft at European platforms like Maison & Objet in Paris and Ambiente in Frankfurt, where global buyers praised local mastery in abaca, rattan, and natural fibers.

“What makes this upcoming edition truly special is how it aligns grassroots Filipino artistry with global market readiness,” said CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo. “We are not just showcasing beautiful objects; we are nurturing an ecosystem where our artisan communities can flourish sustainably on the international stage.”

Under the theme “Bloom,” this year’s show explores both organic forms and the growth of local artisan communities.

The theme reflects global trends identified by forecaster WGSN, such as Witherwill—a post-digital desire for calming, intentional design—and previews upcoming aesthetics like the 2027 Color of the Year, Luminous Blue.

To prepare exhibitors for international buyers, Manila FAME continues its product development mentorships:

  • Design Commune: Designer Tony Gonzales guided 20 companies to create 90 new home decor and lighting prototypes.
  • Home at FAME: Designer Milo Naval collaborated with 10 exhibitors to unveil 40 furniture and lighting pieces.
  • Artisans Village: Designers Patti Carpenter, Emma Gutierrez, and Rachelle Dagnalan mentored 50 regional enterprises across Bohol, Aklan, Tarlac, and Isabela, yielding over 100 new product designs utilizing piña textiles, natural fibers, refined woodcraft, and bamboo.

Additionally, CITEM is emphasizing ethical sourcing, fair trade, and eco-certifications to meet compliance standards for global retail and hospitality buyers.

Concurrently, the Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX) at the Philippine Trade Training Center will highlight circular economy strategies and green technologies.
