POLICE officers arrested three men during a late-night anti-criminality operation in Makati City after a local resident tipped them off to an ongoing illegal gambling game in the area, authorities said.

The operation, spearheaded by the Makati City Police Station under the supervision of Chief of Police PCol. Pedro A. Alagano Jr. and Southern Police District (SPD) Director PBGen. Glenn Oliver C. Cinco, took place at around 1:30 AM along Bernardino Street in Laperal Compound, Barangay Guadalupe Viejo.

Personnel on routine patrol were alerted by a concerned citizen regarding open gambling on the street.

Upon responding to the scene, officers caught the three suspects actively engaged in the illegal activity and promptly took them into custody.

They face multiple criminal charges, including violations of Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal Gambling), Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Batas Pambansa Blg. 6 (Illegal Possession of Bladed Weapons).

Police officers are finalizing documentation to submit the case to the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings.

Meanwhile, the SPD reaffirmed its commitment to boosting anti-crime operations and urged the public to report suspicious activities to local authorities.
