NANGANGAMBA ngayon ang House prosecution team sa nalalapit na impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte kaugnay sa panukala ng Senate majority na online voting.

Ayon sa tagapagsalita ng prosecution panel na si Lanao del Sur Representative Zia Alonto Adiong, iginagalang nila (11-miyembro ng grupo) ang Senado bilang co-equal branch kung ano man ang ipapatupad nilang kaayusan sa pagdinig.

“Ngunit naniniwala kami na napakahalaga ng pagkanaroroon ng bawat senator-judge sa pagdinig dahil nangangailangan ito ng buong atensyon at personal na pananagutan,” ang pahayag ni Adiong.

Matatandaan na nag-walk out ang labing isang senador o ‘Solid Block 11’ (SB-11) na mga miyembro ng minorya nitong Martes, nang ipilit ng mayorya na isalang sa plenaryo ang resolusyon ni Senador Rodante Marcoleta kaugnay sa isyu ng online voting.

“Anumang mga pagkilos na payagan ang remote participation ng senator-judges ay makakaapekto sa integridad ng Senado at pagiging taimtim ng impeachment trial,” dagdag pa ni Adiong.

Nagkaroon ng mainitang pagtatalo sa sesyon ng Senado noong Martes nang muling buhayin ni Marcoleta ang nakabinbin niyang resolusyon na idagdag sa kanilang Senate rules ang online participation at online voting.

Kinontra naman agad ito ni Senator Erwin Tulfo at inakusahan ang mayoriya na kaya umano nila ito gagawin ay upang pahintulutan ang mga absent na senador na makibahagi sa sesyon, pagdinig ng komite at pagboto.

Giit pa ni Tulfo magiging pabor umano ito sa kasamahan ng mayoriya na si Senador Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa upang maka-boto sa impeachment trial.
