THE San Juan City government has completed the first phase of its distribution of Emergency Go Bags, as part of its efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure families have access to essential supplies during emergencies.
The initiative, led by Mayor Francis Zamora, aims to provide Emergency Go Bags to 45,000 households across the city.
Phase 1 distribution for barangays in District 1 was held on Aug. 12, followed by the distribution for District 2 barangays on Aug. 13. Both activities took place at the San Juan City Hall Atrium.
Each Emergency Go Bag contains basic safety, emergency, and first-aid supplies intended to help families respond to disasters, calamities, and other emergency situations.
The kits include a safety helmet, first-aid kit, rechargeable flashlight, power bank, raincoat, thermal blanket, KN95 masks, isopropyl alcohol, emergency handbook, whistle, and glow stick.
Medical supplies such as gauze pads, elastic and T-bandages, povidone-iodine, adhesive bandages, medical micropore tape, alcohol pads, trauma shears, and cotton balls are also included.
The city government said the distribution will be carried out in four phases, with three phases scheduled for 2026 and the final phase set for 2027. The program will continue until all 45,000 targeted households receive their emergency kits.
The initiative forms part of the city’s broader disaster preparedness program, which seeks to strengthen household-level readiness and emergency response by ensuring residents have immediate access to essential safety and first-aid supplies.
City officials said the program is intended to help families respond more effectively during disasters while complementing other local disaster risk reduction and management efforts.
Through the distribution of the emergency kits, the San Juan government is reinforcing its efforts to build a safer and more resilient community by empowering households to prepare for emergencies before they occur.
The city government said the initiative reflects its continuing commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and protecting residents as San Juan works toward becoming a more prepared and resilient city.
