15,000 Libreng wifi sa 2024 – DICT

MASAYANG sinabi ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na
nagtakda ito nang target na 15,100 libreng wifi sites sa maraming lugar sa bansa sa 2024.


Kasama sa tunguhin ng DICT ang pagpapatupad ng National Broadband Plan, na maglalagay
ng halos 2,800 kilometrong “dark fiber” na aabot hanggang sa ilang bahagi ng Mindanao sa
Disyembre 2024.

Sinabi ni USec. Heherson Asiddao, Information and Communications Technology, na tinitiyak ng
DICT na magkakaroon ng “cost-effective” internet connections ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno
at LGUs o local government units. Maglulunsad din daw ng dalawang data centers sa susunod
na taon.


Sinabi ni DICT Secretary Ivan John E. Uy, sa House appropriations committee noong
Huwebes, na nagpanukala sila ng badyet na P8.73 bilyon para sa ahensya.

“The department firmly believes that digitalization is one of the greatest, most powerful tools —
not just to improve the ease of doing business but as a means to eliminate graft and corruption,”
ayon pa kay Uy.


Sa ilalim ng National Expenditure Program (NEP), may alokasyong P9.86 ang DICT at ilang
ahensya na nasa ilalim nito. Sa badyet na ito, P355.77 milyon ang mapupunta sa Cybercrime
Investigation and Coordinating Center; P347.95 milyon sa National Privacy Commission at
P453.65 milyon para sa National Telecommunications Commission.


Sa halip na tumaas, binawasan pa ang pondo ng DICT mula sa P10.88 bilyon sa taong ito, na
naging P9.86 bilyon dahil sa underspending.
