POLICE have arrested an 18-year-old suspect and located two minors linked to the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old senior high school student outside a billiards hall in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper, Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), led by Pasong Putik Police Station and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) under PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio, apprehended alias “Rei,” 18, at his residence in Barangay Greater Lagro around 3:00 AM on August 14.
According to police reports, the victim and his classmates had visited the billiards establishment along Quirino Highway at around 6:00 PM on August 13.
The gathering turned violent when two individuals entered the venue and challenged the victim’s group to a fistfight, sparking a physical brawl.
During the conflict, one of the suspects pulled out a bladed weapon and repeatedly stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene with his companions.
The 16-year-old victim was rushed to Commonwealth Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians, who noted severe stab wounds to his left chest and left buttock.
The immediate arrest of alias “Rei” during a hot-pursuit operation led authorities to the identity of his two minor companions.
In subsequent follow-up operations late on August 14, CIDU officers located one minor at his residence around 11:30 PM, while the other minor was surrendered voluntarily by her parents to authorities.
Alias “Rei” and the two minors face legal proceedings for homicide before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
In accordance with laws governing children in conflict with the law (CICL), the two minors will be turned over to the Molave Youth Home in Quezon City for proper intervention.
“The QCPD will ensure that appropriate legal action is taken against those responsible for this tragic incident,” PBGen. Silvio said in a statement. “We will also ensure that the rights and welfare of the minors are protected throughout the legal process.”
