₱48.2-M halaga ng sub-standard steel products kinumpiska ng DTI, NBI

KINUMPISKA ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang 48.2 milyong halaga ng non-compliant illegal steel products sa sanib-puwersang operasyon na isinagawa sa mga Lungsod Manila at Valenzuela.

Bago nito, nagsagawa muna ng test-buy operation ang NBI at ang nakulektang samples ay ipinadala sa isang DTI-accredited testing laboratory at ayon sa result, hindi ito nakaabot sa pamantayan ng Philippine National Standards (PNS) para sa kaligtasan at kalidad.

Sa isinagawang pagsusuri, apat sa limang kumpanya ang kinakitaan ng mga produktong lumabag sa mandatory quality standards at labeling rules, ayon sa NBI at Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) ng DTI.

Nakumpiska ng mga otoridad sa nasabing operasyon ang kabuuang 200,730 piraso ng bakal, tulad ng galvanized iron pipes, black iron pipes, welded lightweight steel tubes, deformed steel bars, rerolled steel bars, at low-carbon steel wires.

Naglabas na ng Notices of Violation ang DTI sa mga non-compliant establishments na isasailalim pa sa masusing imbestigasyon at aksyong legal sa ilalim ng batas kaugnay sa mga paglabag sa trade and consumer protection.

Ayon pa sa DTI-FTEB, ang nasabing operasyon ay bahagi ng kasalukuyang kampanya na kumpiskahin ang mga di-ligtas na mga construction materials mula sa mga tindahan.

Binigyang-diin din ng dalawang ahensya na seryoso sila na pigilan ang distribution ng mga sub-standard na mga produkto upang hindi malagay sa alanganin ang structural integrity na magsasapanganib sa publiko.
