₱6.75-B benta ng Sky Cable sa PLDT, kanselado

MATAPOS magkasundo na hindi na itutuloy ang transaksyon, hindi na ibebenta ng ABS-CBN Corp. ang Sky Cable Corp. pati na broadband business nito sa PLDT na may halagang ₱6.75 bilyon.

Ang kasunduan na nilagdaan noong Marso 2023 ay nakakuha ng approval ng Philippine Competition Commission nitong Enero.

“PLDT Inc. and ABS-CBN Corp. have mutually decided not to proceed with the sale of Sky Cable to PLDT under the sale and purchase agreement signed by and among the parties in March 2023,” ayon sa PLDT.

Dahil dito, magpapatuloy pa rin ang serbisyo ng Sky Cable sa customers nito.

Matatandaang ititigil na ng ABS-CBN ang serbisyo ng Sky Cable sa Peb. 26 sakaling natuloy ang transaksyon.

Hindi sinabi ng PLDT kung ano ang dahilan nang pagkansela ng bentahan.

Ayon sa isang observer, nagka-windang-windang ang mga negosyo ng ABS-CBN at ilang sister companies nito magmula nang hindi mai-renew ng Kongreso ang prankisa nito noong Mayo 4, 2020.
