Number coding hindi suspendido kahit may tigil-pasada

Inanunsyo ni David Vargas, asst. operations manager, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na hindi sususpindihin ang pagpapatupad ng number coding sa loob nang panahon na may tigil-pasada ang ilang transport groups.

Sinabi ni Vargas nitong Miyerkules na mananatili pa ring nasa ilalim ng kontrol ng MMDA ang trapiko sa buong Metro Manila sa panahon na mayroong transport strike.
 
“Wala pang anumang abiso ang ahensya pero personally, hindi na ho tayo mag-su- suspend ng number coding dahil manageable naman ang traffic,” saad ni Vargas.
 
Naglunsad ng halos dalawang linggong nationwide transport strike simula Lunes,Disyembre 18, ang grupong Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) at Samahang Manibela Mananakay at Nagkaisang Terminal ng Transportasyon (Manibela).

Ito ay bilang pagtutol sa Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program ng gobyerno.

Sinabi ng Piston na hindi nila kaya ang P300,000 na halaga ng perang kailangang para maging miyembro ng kooperatibo, pati na rin ang presyong mahigit P2 milyon para sa isang yunit ng modern jeepney, pero lumang modelo, na gawang-China.

Sinabi rin ng Piston na marami ng driver-operators ang umatras sa pagbili ng gawang- China na jeepney dahil hindi nila kaya ang buwanang hulog nito, bukod pa sa madaling masira ang yunit, kumpara sa Japanese brands.

Sinabi ng grupo na mahigit 50,000 drivers sa Metro Manila ang mawawalan ng trabaho simula sa Enero 2024 kung igigiit ng gobyerno ang Disyembre 31, 2023 na deadline.
