‘Selfie scans’ kailangan na sa bawat GCash transactions

LUMAGDA kamakailan sa isang memorandum of agreement (MoA) ang GCash at Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC) para labanan ang financial scams.


Sa ilalim ng kasunduan, magbibigay ang GCash ng angkop na data o impormasyon sa SEC
para makatulong ito sa mga gagawing imbestigasyon.

“By continually working with the government in combating scams, fraud and other cybercrimes,
we want our users to have peace of mind and confidence to transact in the digital space,” ayon
kay GCash CEO Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr.


Samantala, sinabi ni SEC Chairman at CEO Emilio Benito Aquino, na handa ang SEC na
tumulong sa lahat ng financial technology companies para makatulong sa ating mga
mamamayan na gumagamit ng e-wallet.

“The MoA entered into today allows efficient cooperation between EIPD (the SEC’s Enforcement
and Investor Protection Department) and GCash. Through this MoA, the EIPD can request vital
information from GCash to build better cases in its fight against fraud,” saad ni Aquino.


Kamakailan, inilunsad ng GCash ang dobleng seguridad na nangangailangan ng facial
recognition at “selfie scans”, bukod pa sa one-time password at mobile PIN ng mga gumagamit
nito.


Dahil dito, makatitiyak ang mga may GCash account na sila lang ang makagagamit nito, kahit
makuha pa ang one-time password at PIN, dahil hindi naman makikita ang mukha ng may-ari
ng account sa “selfie scans” kung iba ang gagamit nito.
