P33-B nawawala taon-taon dahil sa mga batang ina

TINATAYANG nawawalan ang Pilipinas ng P33 bilyon bawat taon dahil sa adolescent
pregnancy o mga kabataang nabubuntis, ayon sa UN Population Fund.


Ang pagtataya ay base sa pwedeng kitain ng mga kabataang babase na P83,000 bawat taon.


Ayon kay Leila Joudane, kinatawan ng UN Population Fund sa bansa, isa sa 10 panganganak
sa Southeast Asia ay mula sa inang 18 taong gulang pababa.


Ayon pa kay Joudane, dahil sa maagang pagbubuntis, mas maliit ang kikitain ng isang babae
kaysa doon sa patuloy na mag-aaral. Dahil dito, lubhang apektado ang kanilang kinabukasan.


Kamakailan, ang ating Department of Health, Korea International Cooperation Agency, WHO,
at UN ay naglunsad ng kampaya laban sa teenage pregnancy sa Samar at Southern Leyte –
dalawang probinsya na may pinakamataas na pagbubuntis ng kabataan sa bansa.

Target ng US$1-milyong programa ang pagtulong sa 275,538 kabataang babae. Magsasanay
din ng 150 health service providers, 150 guro sa pampublikong paaralan at 360 kawani ng
lokal na pamahalaan sa 20 bayan sa nabanggit na lalawigan.


Ayon kay Lisa Bernales, executive director ng Commission on Population Development,
nakababahala ang pagdami ng mga kabataang nabubuntis mula edad 10-14. Dati-rati gusto
nila na maging guro, abogado, atbp. pero sa ngayon mas gusto nila na maging Tiktoker o
social media influencer.
