MANILA Vice Mayor Chi Atienza was named one of the country’s top local legislators at the Gawad Pilipino Awards, securing a spot among the Top 3 Outstanding Vice Mayors in the Philippines during an awarding ceremony held at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club House in Camp Aguinaldo.

The national award recognizes local presiding officers and lawmakers who demonstrate exemplary governance, community-driven legislation, and proactive public service.

Joining Atienza in the national recognition was 4th District Councilor Eunice Ann Denice Castro, who was awarded as one of the Philippines’ Outstanding Councilors, underscoring the collaborative efforts of the 13th Manila City Council.

Atienza, who is in her first year leading the city’s legislative branch, dedicated the recognition to her fellow Manileños.

“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa Gawad Pilipino Awards sa pagkilalang ito bilang 3rd Outstanding Vice Mayor in the Philippines. Sobrang laking bagay po nito para sa akin, pero higit sa lahat, para po ito sa ating minamahal na lungsod dahil hindi ko po ito magagawa nang mag-isa,” Atienza said.

Atienza expressed that the accolade will serve as motivation to advance progressive legislative measures, reaffirming her commitment to serve the city as Presiding Officer of the 13th City Council.

Moving forward, the Office of the Vice Mayor reiterated its commitment to maintaining strong coordination between the executive and legislative branches.

Under Mayor Isko’s leadership, the council plans to expedite ordinances focused on healthcare prioritization, social welfare, and community livelihood support.
