Desisyon ng ICC sa apela ng Ph, lalabas na bukas

INAASAHANG lalabas bukas, Hulyo 18, ang desisyon ng Appeals Chamber, International Criminal
Court (ICC) sa apela ng Pilipinas sa tungkol sa extra-judicial killings may kinalaman sa “drug war”
ng dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.


Ang apela ng Pilipinas ay tungkol sa tatlong-pahinang utos na nilagdaan ni Presiding Judge Marc
Perrin de Brichambaut noong Hulyo 12 (petsa sa Hague), laban sa utos ng ICC na ituloy ang
imbestigasyon sa “drug war”.


Ang ICC Appeals Chamber ay maglalabas ng desisyon kung si Special Prosecutor Karim Khan at ang kanyang tanggapan ay may karapatang mag-imbistiga sa pagkamatay ng mga biktima ng “drug war”.


Noong Marso 27, 2023, ang pamahalaan ng Pilipinas – sa pamamagitan ni Solicitor General
Menardo Guevarra – ay humiling sa ICC na itigil na ang imbestigasyon. Kinukwestiyon ang
karapatan nito na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon, matapos na mag-withdraw ang Pilipinas bilang
miyembro ng ICC noong 2019.

nakaraang Marso.


Sa record ng gobyerno, mahigit 6,000 drug suspects ang napatay magmula Hunyo 2016 hanggang Nobyembre 2021, pero ang bilang ay kinontra ng lokal at internasyunal na human rights groups na nagsabing mula sa 12,000 to 30,000 ang napatay sa “drug war”.
