Diskriminasyon vs katutubo, itinutulak ni Jinggoy

MINSAN, nakatatanggap nang panlalait at masasakit na salita ang mga katutubo, lalo na ang mga
Igorot na sumasayaw habang namamalimos. Kasing-sakit din nito ang dinaranas nilang
diskriminasyon kung naghahanap ng trabaho.


Isang panukalang batas na gawing ilegal ang diskriminasyon sa mga katutubong nag-a-apply ng
trabaho, ang isinusulong ni Senador Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada.


“Hindi katanggap-tanggap na pigilan ang sinumang tao na mamasukan sa trabaho dahil sa kanyang ethnic origin o relihiyon,” ayon kay Estrada sa paghahain ng Senate Bill No. 1026 (SB 1026).


Idiniin ni Estrada na layon din ng SB 1026 na iangat mula sa kahirapan at tugunan ang hindi parehas na pagtrato sa ating mga kapatid na katutubo. Bukod pa kasiguruhan na magkaroon ng pantay na oportunidad at pagtrato sa trabaho ang mga katutubo o miyembro ng indigenous cultural communities.

Kapag naisabatas na ang SB 1026, pagmumultahin ang bawat lumabag dito ng aabot sa P500,000 o pagkabilanggo nang hindi hihigit sa anim na taon, o parehong multa at pagkakakulong sa diskresyon ng korte.
