Kaliwa’t kanan na online scams, 10-k na ang biktima

MAHIGIT sa 10,000 o 10,164 Pilipino ang nabiktima ng online scams sa unang 10 buwan ng
taong ito.
Ito ang ipinahayag kamakailan ni Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (ACG)
Director Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia.

Sinabi ni Hernia na kahit naka-rehistro na ang aktibong SIM cards sa bansa, marami pa rin ang
nabibiktima ng online scam, pero mas mababa ang bilang nito kaysa noong hindi pa umiiral ang
batas sa SIM card registration.


“‘Yung online scam as of 15 October mayroon na tayong 10,164. Mataas po ito compared last
year but for the past 3 months mula ng fully implemented ‘yung SIM Registration Act ay very,
sabihin nating bumaba, malaki ang binaba ng ating cybercrime lalong-lalo na ‘yung mga
cybercrime na related sa paggamit ng SIM. Almost 50% ang binaba eh,” ayon kay Hernia sa
pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Science and Technology, sa pangunguna ni Sen. Alan Peter
Cayetano.

Patuloy daw ang pakikipag-koordinasyon ng PNP sa e-wallet companies sa bansa, dahil
kadalasan dito pumapasok ang perang ninakaw sa scan.


“I’d like to inform the body that with our constant [monitoring], palagi naming ka-

sila at mayroon na silang validation ng mga ID presented during registration kaya siguro itong
nakikita namin na medyo bumaba, medyo bumaba ‘yung ating cybercrime but kung titnignan
