40-M bariles ng langis, nasa Palawan Cadlao field

TINATAYANG mayroong 4-40 milyong bariles ng langis ang matatagpuan sa Cadlao field, sa karagatan ng Palawan, ayon sa Nido Petroleum Philippines Pty. Ltd. (NPPPL) kamakailan.


Ang NPPPL ang lokal na kinatawan ng Australian firm na Sacgasco Ltd., na kinontrata ng ating
gobyerno para magsagawa ng oil exploration sa Cadlao field.


Matatagpuan ang Cadlao oil field sa “SC 6B contract area” sa karagan ng Palawan, may sukat na 533 square kilometers, at may lalim na mula 20 metro hanggang 90 metro.


Matapos itong madiskubre noong 1977, nagsimula ang produksyon ng langis noong 1981 at nakapag-prodyus noon ng 11.1 milyong bariles ng langis. Pero kinalaunan ay itinigil ang produksyon dahil sa humina ang bolyum ng langis na nakukuha at hindi na ito financially viable.

Ayon sa positibong resulta ng 3D seismic tests noong 1996, malaki ang posibilidad na may malaki
pang deposito ng langis ang matatagpuan sa paligid ng dating oil wells.


Ang Cadlao field re-development ay isang joint-venture project sa pagitan ng Nido Petroleum
Philippines, Philodrill Corp., Oriental Petroleum and Minerals Corp., Alcorn Petroleum and Mineral
Corp., at Forum Energy Philippines Corp. Tinatayang gagastos ang consortium ng mahigit sa US$72 milyon para sa dalawang oil wells.
