MAHIGIT 105.2 milyong SIM cards ang nairehistro sa buong bansa noong Hulyo 24.


Ito ay katumbas ng 63 percent ng kabuuang 168 million mobile subscribers noong nakaraang
Disyembre, ayon sa report ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).


Sa kabuuang bilang, 50 milyon rehistradong SIM cards ay sa Smart Communications Inc. (Smart),
48.4 milyon sa Globe Telecommunications (Globe), at 7.5 milyon sa Dito Telecommunity Corp.,
(Dito).


Inaasahang madaragdagan pa ang bilang na ito kapag na-consolidate na ang bilang ng lahat ng
SIM cards na nairehistro noong Hulyo 25 deadline.


Sinabi ng NTC na sa mga hindi nakapagrehistro ng SIM cards, mayroon pa sila hanggang Hulyo 31
para ma-reactivate ito sa pamamagitan pagpunta sa link ng Smart, Globe, o Dito na makikita
online. Kailangan lamang sundin ang instructions para makapag-reactivate.

Nagsimulang iutos ng pamahalaan ang pagrerehistro ng lahat ng SIM cards sa buon bansa noong
Disyembre 27, 2022. Ang unang deadline ay noong Abril 26, 2023. Dahil sa mababang bilang ng
mga nakapag-rehistro, pinalawig ni Pangulong Fedinand Marcos Jr. ang deadline noong Hulyo 25.


Nais ng gobyerno na maitigil na ang mga text at online scams sa pamamagitan ng SIM card
registration, para madaling matukoy ang pagkakakilanlan ng taong nasa likod ng scams.
