50% ng Jeepneys sa NCR, hindi pa nag-consolidate

INIULAT ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) kahapon na
halos kalahati ng pampasaherong jeepneys sa Metro Manila ang hindi sumali sa
consolidation.


Ayon kay LTFRB board member Riza Marie Paches na umaabot lamang sa 52.54
percent o may 26,055 units, ang nagpa-consolidate hanggang sa matapos ang deadline
nitong Disyembre 31.


Idinagdag pa ni Paches na 76 percent ng passenger jeepneys at UV express o 145,721
units sa buong bansa ang sumali na sa kooperatiba at nag-consolidate.

Pinakarami sa naturang bilang ang PUJ na nasa 111,581 units o 73.97 percent sa
buong Pilipinas.


Nakabuo na raw ng 1,700 transport cooperatives ang mahigit 145,000 na jeepneys at
UV express.

Sinabi ng LTFRB na hanggang Enero 31, 2024 na lamang pinapayagang makapasada
ang jeepneys at UV express na hindi sumali sa consolidation. Hindi na pwedeng
humabol ang iba pa sa consolidation dahil sarado na ito.


Ayon kay LTFRB executive director Robert Peig, tanging ang consolidated vehicles na
lamang ang papayagang pumasada simula sa Pebrero 1.


Ayon kay LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz hahanap daw sila nang paraan para madagdagan
ang mga masasakyan sakaling magkaroon ng labis na kakulangan sa public transport.


Dahil sa diumano’y mataas na membership fee na hinihingi ng ilang transport
cooperatives, pwede raw itong ireklamo sa LTFRB para maaksyunan.
