Bagong batas, palalakasin ang cooperative banks

Inaprobahan ng House of Representativesnitong Miyerkules sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang
isang panukalang batas para i-regulate ang mga banko ng kooperatiba (BK) sa bansa.


Sa botong 206, inaprubahan ng Kongreso ang House Bill No. 8265 na nagpapalawak din sa
pagkuha ng miyembro ng BK sa mga banyagang kooperatiba, kaya lang, hindi dapat
lumampas sa 40 percent ang total voting shares nito.


Kapag tuluyan nang naisabatas, ang 15 kooperatiba na rehistrado ayon sa Cooperative Code
ay maaari nang magparehistro ng BK sa Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), matapos
makumpleto ang mga dokumentong kailangang at naaprubahan na ito ng Bangko Sentral ng
Pilipinas (BSP).

Ayon kay Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, mahihikayat ang mga Pilipino na mag-
miyembro ng kooperatiba at makalikha ng mga bagong BK, upang sa ganon sila ay
makautang ng may maliit na interes para sa kanilang negosyo at iba pang pangangailangan.
