A prompt response to a national emergency hotline call led to the arrest of an American citizen accused of committing acts of lasciviousness against an 18-year-old woman in San Juan City.
Officers from the San Juan City Police Station, operating under the Eastern Police District (EPD), apprehended the suspect shortly after receiving the alert.
The 42-year-old suspect, identified by police as alias “Andrew,” was taken into custody following a distress call placed to the 911 emergency hotline by the victim’s boyfriend.
According to initial investigations, the victim was invited by the suspect via WhatsApp before being transported to a residential area in Barangay Sta. Lucia.
While inside both a vehicle and the residence, the suspect allegedly subjected the victim to unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate physical contact.
Fearing for her personal safety, the victim discreetly sent her real-time location to her boyfriend. Upon receiving the message, the boyfriend immediately contacted the 911 hotline, triggering a rapid police deployment.
Personnel from San Juan City Police Station Sub-Station 2 coordinated swiftly with the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), the Barangay Security Force (BSF), and local barangay officials to reach the location.
Responding officers successfully rescued the young woman and placed the suspect under arrest without further incident.
Both parties were taken to the San Juan City Police Station WCPD for official processing. The suspect remains detained at the San Juan CPS Custodial Facility, where he faces formal charges for violating Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code (Acts of Lasciviousness).
EPD Acting District Director, Police Brigadier General Melecio M. Buslig Jr., commended the responding officers and highlighted the effectiveness of the unified 911 system during critical situations.
Buslig noted that seamless coordination among the public, emergency dispatcher systems, and field personnel ensured the victim’s immediate rescue, reaffirming the EPD’s commitment to protecting women and children from exploitation.
