Presyo ng bigas, ipinako sa P41, P45 bawat kilo

INARUBAHAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang rekomendasyon na magtakda
ng price ceiling sa bigas sa buong bansa, dahil sa patuloy na tumataas na presyo nito.


Ayon sa Executive Order (EO) No. 39, itinatakda nito ang presyo ng regular-milled rice
sa P41 bawat kilo, samantalang P45 bawat kilo sa well-milled rice.


Ginawa ito ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Department of Trade of Industry (DTI)
bunsod nang pagtaas ng presyo ng lokal at imported na bigas mula 4-14 percent nitong
Agosto.


Ayon sa EO 39, “The mandated price ceilings shall remain in full force and effect unless
lifted by the President upon the recommendation of the Price Coordinating Council or
the DA and the DTI.”


Ang pagtaas ng presyo ng bigas ay nagdulot ng problema sa maraming Pilipino, lalo na
sa mga mahihirap, kaya agad nagpatupad ng price ceiling ang gobyerno, ayon sa
Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Tinataya ng DA na ang suplay ng bigas sa ikalawang bahagi ng taon ay aabot sa 10.15
million metric tons (MMT). Sa datos na ito 2.53 MMT ay dati ng stock (Enero-Hunyo)
samantalang ang 7.20 MMT ay mula sa lokal na ani. Ang imported na bigas ay 0.41
MMT lamang.


Ayon sa DA, Tumaas ang presyo ng bigas dahil sa hoarding o pang-iipit ng mga trader,
perhuwisyo ng mga nagdaang bagyo, pati na ang tumataas na presyo ng imported na
bigas. Nakaapekto rin daw ang digmaan sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine.
