Cayetano walang sama ng loob kay Villanueva kahit ‘nag-ober da bakod’ ito sa Gatchalian bloc

INIHAYAG ni former senate president Alan Peter Cayetano na wala umano siyang sama ng loob kay Senator Joel Villanueva matapos itong lumipat sa kampo ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian na nagpangyari na maging bagong lider ng Mataas na Kapulungan.

Sa isang Facebook post noong Linggo, sinabi ni Villanueva na dadalo umano siya sa ipapatawag na Special Session ng Kongreso na hiniling ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr para tapusin ang ilang mga nakabinbing mga panukalang batas.

Sinabi ni Villanueva na hindi aniya dapat maparalisa ang gawaing lehislatura ng senado at may mandato umano sila batay sa konstitusyon na kung hindi nila tutuparain ay magiging hindi katanggap-tanggap.

Matatandaan na ito rin ang naging dahilan ni Senador Chiz Escudero nang bigla itong nagpakita sa huling sesyon ng senado noong Hunyo 3 kung saan nagpaging posible kay Gatchalian na mahalal bilang Senate President Pro Tempore at acting Senate President.

Ang sesyon na ito ay kinuwestiyon ng Cayetano bloc sa Korte Suprema at hiniling na ipawalang-bisa ito dahil 12 senador lang anila ang bomoto at hindi 13.

“To our brother who, in the end, felt he had no choice but to make peace with the new reality: I hold no bitterness toward you. I have seen the pressures that were brought to bear, and I understand them,” ang pahayag ni Cayetano.

Kapansin-pansin na hindi dumalo ang natitirang 11 senador sa pagbubukas ng special session kaninang umaga ngunit dumalo ang ilan sa kanila sa hearing ng Commission on Appointments kung saan awtomatikong miyembro ang ilan sa mga minority senators.
