Flood control program ng Marikina, pinuri ni Marcos

TUMANGGAP ng papuri mula kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang data-driven at scientific flood control program ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Marikina, ayon kay Congressman Marcelino “Marcy” Tedoro.

“Sustainable daw ‘yung ating flood mitigation. It’s scientific and data driven,” ang pahayag ng mambabatas at dating alkalde ng lungsod sa isang panayam.

“Sabi ko sa ating pangulo meron tayong data historically sa Bagyong Ondoy, [ganun din kapag may] habagat (southwest monsoon), Bagyong Ulysses, at Bagyong Crising. Nakita naman ‘yung dramatic decreasing ng flooding because of the excellent design of the drainage system. May interconnectivity leading to the outfall area,” dagdag pa ni Teodoro.

Sinabi pa ng kongresista sa Pangulo na may ilan pang patapos na mga pumping stations ang Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at madadagdagan pa ito mula naman sa pamahalaang nasyunal na itatayo sa mga barangay ng Calumpang at Sto. Niño.

“Baka next year ‘yan yung funding. Pero yung mga hindi pa nila tapos na mga drainage systems pipilitin nilang matapos late within the year based on the existing drainage master plan na meron ang city,” saad pa ni Teodoro.

Idinagdag oa ng dating alkalde na nangako umano si Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan na lahat ng mga drainage system ng pamahalaang nasyunal ay i-aayon sa master plan ng Marikina.

Ayon pa kay Teodoro, napakahalaga aniya ng ‘whole-of-government’ approach sa isyu ng pagkontrol ng mga pagbaha kung saan nagtutulungan ang lokal at nasyunal na gobyerno para masolusyunan ang problema.

“Kakausapin namin ‘yung nasa upstream community tulad ng Montalban at San Mateo, downstream ‘yung Cainta saka Pasig para isang effort [na lang kami sa clearing of esteros and creeks, and widening of river],” dagdag pa ni Teodoro.

Kamakailan lang ay inihalal si Marikina City Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro bilang focal mayor ng League of Cities of the Philippines sa usaping flood mitigation at management.
