Thailand-Cambodia tigil putukan muna

SINIMULAN na ng Thailand at Cambodia ang usapang tigil-putukan muna habang pinag-uusapan ang kanilang girian kaugnay sa pinag-aawayang border dispute kung saan nasa ika-limang araw na ang kaguluhan.

Batay sa huling ulat, mahigit 2,000 katao na ang nagsilikas malapit sa nasabing pinagtatalunang lugar dahil sa sunod-sunod na palitan ng rocket at gun fire.

Ang nasabing pag-uusap ng dalawang bansa ay isinagawa sa Putrajaya, Malaysia kung saan namagitan si Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Lunes ng hapon, Hulyo 28.

Dumalo sa nasabing usapang tigil-putukan sina Thailand acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai at Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Ito’y matapos mamagitan si US President Donald Trump at tinawagan kapuwa ang mga lider ng dalawang bansa na ayon sa kaniya ay pumayag naman na mag-usap sa lalong madaling panahon.

Bilang kasalukuyang chairman ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), namagitan si Anwar sa naturang pag-uusap kasama ang mga opisyan ng US State Department at ilang delegasyon mula sa bansang China.

Bago nito, inaakusahan ng bawat isa na nagpasimula ng girian hanggang umabot sap unto na nagpalitan na ng putukan mula sa magkabilang panig kung saan hindi naniniwala ang Bangkok na “kumikilos sa paraang tama” ang Phnom Penh.

Sinabi naman ng tagapagsalita ng defense ministry ng Cambodia na si Maly Socheata na nasa ika-limang araw nang sinasakop ng Thailand ang teritoryo nila na may dalang heavy weapons at pagpapakalat ng mga tropang sundalo.
