Hirit ng ekonomista: Foreign restrictions sa konstitusyon alisin

HADLANG umano sa pag-angat ng ekonomiya ng bansa ang foreign restrictions na nakasaad sa Saligang Batas ng 1987 kung kaya dapat itong alisin.

Ito ang inihirit ng ekonomistang si Dr. Calixto Chikiamco, pangulo ng Foundation for Economic Freedom, sa weekly forum na “The Agenda” sa Club Filipino sa San Juan City, kaninang umaga.

Ayon kay Chikiamco, kaya umano hindi umangat-angat ang ekonomiya at nahahadlangan ang pag-unlad ng ating bansa dahil sa napakaraming pagbabawal ang nakasaad sa ating Saligang Batas.

Isa na rito ang foreign restrictions, ayon pa sa ekonomista, kung kaya bantulot ang mga mamumuhunan na magtayo ng negosyo sa ating bansa.

“Ang Pilipinas lamang ang may probisyon ukol sa foreign restrictions,” ang pahayag ni Chikiamco.

Idinagdag pa ng ekonomista na “kaya tayo kulelat at binansagang ‘sick man of Asia’ pagdating sa foreign investments dahil nga dito sa mga restriksyon.”

Sinabi pa ni Chikiamco, na ang mga oligarcs ang nakikinabang sa economic provisions nito.

“Kailangan na itong (alisin) o kaya’y pahintulutan ang Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso na alisin at baguhin ito,” giit pa ng ekonomista. Giit pa ni Chikiamco na napapag-iwanan na tayo ng Vietnam at Thailand dahil sa mga isyung ito sa ating konstitusyon.

“Sa kasalukuyan, may mga kasong inihain sa Korte Suprema na kinukuwestyon ang constitutionality ng Public Service Act,” dagdag pa ni Chikiamco.
