28 na ang Nasawi, 89 nawawala pa sa Davao landslide

PUMALO na sa 28 ang nasawi sa naganap na landslide sa Barangay Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro.

Ayon sa Maco Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MMDRRMO), bukod sa 28 nasawi, umabot na sa 35 ang nasaktang indibidwal, at 89 pa ang iniulat na nawawala.

Nitong Biyernes dalawang bata — isang dalawang-buwang sanggol at isang tatlong- taong gulang na batang babae — ang makahimalang nakaligtas mula sa guho; sila’y na-trap sa halos 60 oras. Nahanap ang dalawang bata sa tulong ng K-9 search and rescue dog.

Dahil dito, mas pinaigting pa ang isinasagawang search and rescue operations sa pag-asang may maililigtas pa silang mas maraming biktima mula sa nangyaring landslide.

Kahit na 72 oras na matapos ang pagyanig, umaasa pa rin si PDRRM head Joseph Randy Loy na may maililigtas pa sila, kaya patuloy pa rin ang mano-manong paghuhukay gamit ang mga kamay at pala para makakita ng survivors.

“If we deal with search and rescue, it’s really dealing more of saving more lives, anticipating that there are really more lives in the area and we are trying our best to respond to them and bring them to the nearest hospital or healthcare facilities,” ayon pa kay Loy.

Samantala, pinagbawalan ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) ang mga taong naiulat na naghahanap ng ginto sa gumuhong lupa sa lugar ng landslide. Nakakaabala raw sa search and rescue operations ang ginagawang paghahanap ng ginto ng ilang grupo. Mas mahalaga raw ang pagliligtas-buhay kaysa paghahanap ng ginto.
