NASA diskarte ng transport cooperatives kung aling modern jeepney ang kanilang
bibilhin para sa PUV modernization program.


Sinabi ni Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chair Teofilo
Guadiz III na hindi nakikialam ang ahensya sa isyu. Ito ay matapos na tumanggap ng
krisismo ang programa dahil daw sa imported daw mula China ang mga sasakyang pilit
na iniaalok ng gobyerno.


“Pwede po sila bumili ng locally-made or from Japan, or China, o kahit ano pang
bansa. Basta ang cooperatives po ang masusunod diyan at hindi ang pamahalaan
[basta ang mga ito ay pasok Philippine National Standards (PNS) para sa jeepneys],’
saad ni Guadiz.


Mayroon daw 32 modelo ng modern jeepneys na gawa sa bansa, imported, o locally
assembled.

Sa hiwalay na pahayag, sinabi ni Department of Transportation USec. Timothy John
Batan na bukas daw ang programa lalo na sa local manufacturers ng modern jeepneys
basta ito ay pasado sa PNS.


“At kung mas mura ang presyo ng ating local manufacturers, tingin natin ay hindi
mahihirapan ang ating mga operators na sila ang piliin,” dagdag pa ni Batan.


Kamakailan, pinuna ni Senador Senator Raffy Tulfo ang gobyerno dahil sa importation
ng mini buses o modern jeepneys mula sa China, na may presyong ₱2.6-₱2.9 milyon,
samantalang ang lokal na jeepney na likha ng Sarao at Francisco motors ay mula
₱900,000 – ₱985,000 lamang, na higit na mas mababa.
