House, iimbestigahan ang ‘korapsyon’ sa PUVMP

TILA narinig ng Kongreso ang mga hinaing ng jeepney drivers and operators hinggil sa
diumano’y korapsyon sa pagpapatupad ng PUVMP o public utility vehicle
modernization program.


Sinabi ni Antipolo Rep. Romeo Acop, chair, House Committee on Transportation na
nasa proseso na siya para makuha ang approval ng mga miyembro ng komite para
magsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa January 10, Miyerkules.


Ang aksyon ni Acop ay ginawa bilang tugon sa panawagan ni Speaker Martin
Romualdez na alamin kung may katotohanan ang umano’y iregularidad sa programa.

“We cannot allow corruption to take root in the implementation of the modernization
program. If we are to proceed with the modernization of our PUVs, we must make
sure there is not even a whiff of irregularity,” saad Acop.


Matatandaang mariing pinuna kamakailan ng mga Senador na sina Win Gatchalan,
Koko Pimentel, Imee Marcos, at Grace Poe ang tila kakulangan ng transparency sa
procurement ng modern jeepney, pati na rin sa sobrang mahal ng presyo nito.

Sinabi ni Isay Molato ng Sociedad Filipino Intelligente na ang pwersahang
pagpapatupad ng batas na magreresulta sa kawalan ng hanapbuhay ng libo-libong
jeepney drivers ay tuwirang paglabag sa karapatang pantao.


Dapat daw na pinag-aralan muna ang aspetong pang-ekonomiya ng programa pati na
rin ang pagbibigay tulong-pinansyal sa local jeepney manufacturers na makabuo ng
modernong jeepney na pasok sa Philippine Standard. Ang pagbili ng units mula sa
China ay katumbas nang pagkukunsinti natin sa pambu-bully nito sa WPS, gamit ang
perang kinita nila mula sa atin.
