Presyo ng bigas, pwedeng maibaba sa ₱20 – Villar

Inihayag ni Senador Cynthia Villar posibleng bumaba sa ₱20 bawat kilo ang presyo
ng bigas simula sa 2024.

Sinabi ni Villar na pwede itong mangyari kapag naipatupad na ang Rice
Tariffication Law pati na Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund ng National
Rice Program.

Ayon pa kay Villar, chair, Senate committee on agriculture, food,
at agrarian reform, na nasa implementation stage na ang nabanggit na programa.
Mahalaga rin daw na mabigyan ng sapat na mahusay na binhi ang mga
magsasaka paa madagdagan ang kanilang ani.

“Kailangan mura ang puhunan. Kaya may perang binigay sa Landbank at
Development Bank of the Philippines. Kaso kung hindi nila ‘yun ibibigay sa
farmers ay mahihirapan tayo to be competitive. Pero kung maganda ang
implementation of the law we can do it,” saad ng senador.

Binanggit ni Villar ang Vietnam na kayang mag-produce ng palay sa halagang ₱6
bawat kilo.

“Yun ang hinahabol natin eh. Sa ₱6 per kilo na palay times two para maging bigas so ₱12 ang puhunan. So kayang-kaya yung ₱20 kung tutuusin ‘di iba? Kaya lang kailangan ibaba sa ₱6 [ang halaga ng produksyon],” saad niya.
