61 OFWs nakauwi na mula Lebanon

UMABOT na sa 61 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) mula sa Lebanon ang nakauwi na sa
bansa, sa ilalim ng repatriation efforts ng Marcos administration, ayon sa Department of Migrant
Workers (DMW).


Pinangangambahan ng gobyerno na mapahamak ang OFWs sa Lebanon dahil sa lumalalang
tensyon bunsod nang pagsali ng grupong Hezbollah sa digmaang Israel-Hamas.


Sinabi ni Usec. Hans Leo Cacdac, OIC ng DMW, na malamang na hindi na masundan pa ang 19
na Pilipino na dumating sa bansa nitong Sabado.

Ayon pa kay Cacdac, patuloy ang pagtulong na ginagawa ng DMW at iba pang ahensya ng
gobyerno sa OFWs, pati na rin ang mga Pilipino na may asawang Palestinians, para tuluyan na
silang makauwi ng bansa.


Matatandaang nagpasalamat ang ating Department of Foreign Affairs sa gobyerno ng Qatar,
Israel, at Egypt dahil sa malaki nilang naiambag para mapalaya ang mga Pilipinong bihag ng
Hamas, pati na rin ang iba pang Pilipino na nakatira sa Gaza Strip.

Sa isang interview kamakailan, sinabi ni Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss na sina
Pacheco at Babadilla ay tatanggap bawat isa ng katumbas ng P100,000 buwan-buwan sa loob ng
unang anim na buwan, pati na iba pang benepisyo mula sa kanyang bansa, dahil itinuturing sila
na mamamayan ng Israel.
